JANET DONNELLY RICHARDS

1943 - 2024

RICHARDS, Janet Donnelly Age 81, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. A devoted mother, cherished friend, and kind soul, born on June 3, 1943, in Lexington, MA, to Joseph and Anna Donnelly. Janet was the heart of her home, nurturing her daughters and, eventually, grandchildren, with unwavering support, offering gentle guidance, constant encouragement, and always with spirited sharp wit and wisdom. She attended Lesley University and became a teacher. She was an award-winning flower designer, as well as an avid gardener, regularly participating in civic beautification through the Acton Garden Club. Janet devoted countless hours to helping others, volunteering with Best Buddies, Carlton Willard, Emerson Hospital, and the Concord Museum, bringing creativity and artistry to everything she did. Janet is survived by her husband, Gordon; and their daughters and spouses: Janet and Stuart Dye of Falmouth, ME, Jacquelyn and Jeffrey Zaccardo of Sudbury, MA, Christina and Stephen Brunette of Longmeadow, MA and Hannah Richards and Andrew Smith of Guerneville, CA. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Amanda. She adored her grandchildren: Otto, Meghan, Alec, Joseph, Caitlin, Shannon, Colin, Thomas, and Aiden. Her siblings and their spouses also survive her: Ann Murphy, Joseph and Carol Donnelly, and Joan and Richard Sullivan. A Service will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, at 10 am at St Elizabeth's Parish in Acton, MA. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Best Buddies.
