Aronson Weiss, Janet Was entered into rest on Sunday, November 1, a few weeks shy of her 90th birthday. A long-time resident of Longmeadow, MA. Beloved wife of 61 years to the late Dr. Leon A. Weiss. Dear daughter of the late Milton and Bessie Aronson. Devoted mother of Richard Weiss and his wife Meryl Antonowsky Weiss of New York City and Marjorie Weiss Patkin and her husband Dr. Randall Patkin of Swampscott. Loving sister of the late Hillard J. Aronson and sister-in-law of Naomi Bowman of Van Nuys, California. Cherished grandmother of Brooke and Alexander Patkin and Matthew and Loren Weiss. Beloved aunt to Jim and Jonathan Aronson, Susan Schway and Ronald Bowman. A native of Springfield, Janet was a graduate of Classical High School in Springfield. She was a proud alumna of Mount Holyoke College where she received her undergraduate and masters degrees. She pursued her PhD studies at Bryn Mawr College in Spanish literature and was a Lecturer in Spanish at Wellesley College. She was a Spanish teacher at The MacDuffie School in Springfield, MA. Serving as the office manager of her husband's Periodontics and Endodontics practice, Janet was committed to ensuring that patients received the highest quality of care. A former Board member of Jewish Family Service, she was an enthusiastic supporter of the Jewish Geriatric Services and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. She was a long-standing congregant of Temple Beth El in Springfield. Janet was a selfless daughter, mother and grandmother who was completely devoted to her extended family. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 4 at 1:30 pm at the Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home, 44 Sumner Avenue in SPRINGFIELD. Interment will immediately follow at the Temple Beth El Cemetery, 350 Kings Highway in West Springfield. Memorial observance will be held at Temple Beth El following interment and continuing at Marjorie and Dr. Randall Patkin's home in Swampscott on Thursday evening from 7-9 pm and on Friday afternoon 1-4 pm.
