Debbie and Family,
At work, you no doubt know, Jeff was the ‘go to’ guy that everyone depended on when stuff was happening. But he was more than a colleague. When you spend time working with someone every day for years upon years, they become as much your family as the folks who live in your home. And so it was with Jeff.
On those long rides back from the ends of the earth after the late news---there was always plenty to talk about.. Whether it was woodworking, the job, household repair, the dogs or family— there was something that kept us chatting.
You should know he was enormously proud of Alex, Noelle, and Kayleigh and shared the joys of their accomplishments as they grew. Because Kayleigh was a year older than my first daughter, Jeff was always able to pass on tips to me about what to expect—and how to deal with various phases of childhood---because he was experiencing them first. That was a lot of help to a new—and befuddled dad like me.
Sometimes at night, on those long rides back, we’d listen to Art Bell’s Coast-to-Coast radio program where he’d spend time on the mysteries of the Cosmos. We’d sometimes use that as fodder for our own chats about the mysteries of life. Now, Jeff has left us to find the answers.
Once again Jeff will be experiencing stuff before me. Jeff, I expect a full report from you when it’s my time. Until then, you will be missed every day.
