JOAN H. W. BAIER

1931 - 2025

BAIER, Joan H. W. Died peacefully on January 14, 2025, at Oceanside Nursing Facility in Rockport, MA, at the age of 93. Born to Maurice and Gertrude (Higgins) Wiseman on August 30, 1931, Joan grew up in Dorchester, MA. She graduated from the Jeremiah E. Burke High School, and then from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. Joan worked overseas in Salzburg, Austria, for the government doing secretarial work. Upon her return, she worked for the Massachusetts Medical Society as editor of the MAMA's The Bulletin, and was Vice President of the MAMA. She married Vincent G. Baier in 1962 and raised her family in Halifax, MA. Joan was an avid skier in her youth. She loved going out to lunch with her friends and spending time with her family and her dog, Charlie. Joan is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Reed of Rockport, MA and Maggie Collins of Amesbury, MA; as well as her grandchildren, Alexander H. Reed and Skylis Reed of Rockport, MA, Samantha D. Collins of Amesbury, MA and Victoria L. Collins of London, England. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent G. Baier; and her two sisters, Virginia L. Wiseman and Gloria M. (Wiseman) Velenage. A Memorial Service is scheduled for April 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm., at the Rockport Art Association in Rockport, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations to the MSPCA or Cape Ann Animal Aid may be made in Joan's memory.
