I met Joani on commonwealth ave. many years ago. She was an avid walker and I was an avid runner so our paths crossed countless times. She was always warm, friendly, curious and interesting to talk to. As a result, we developed a friendship of sorts. I will always remember her as a joyful loving person who embraced life and made the most of it. So sorry to hear about her passing and my heart goes out to Arthur, her family and all who loved her.

As one of Joanie's Colby classmates I feel this loss and send love to her family.
Joanie was one of our leaders, from the years on campus bringing our awareness beyond Mayflower Hill, to her commitment to her profession and family, and her unwavering connection to the college. With a delightful laugh she shared time with us; completing tasks, meeting responsibilities, and wrapping up the items on an agenda. A friend, colleague, role model. A spirit of life and love, you are missed.

I spent a year with Joan in a Living Learning Experimental Community at Colby with a social justice focus. What a kind and generous person Joan was.
