John CALLAN Obituary

CALLAN, John M. Age 93, of Centerville, Massachusetts, passed away on July 30, at his home. Born in Wakefield, Massachusetts, to Frances (Marsden) Callan and Edward C. Callan, Sr., he was a graduate of Wakefield High School, earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Boston College and a Juris Doctor Degree from Boston College Law School. John practiced law in Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts for over 50 years, specializing in civil trial litigation and was a founding partner in the law firm of Callan, Sullivan and Burke.

In his adopted town of Wilmington, Massachusetts, John was active in many civil organizations, including Chairman of the Building Committee where he was instrumental in building the town library. He was elected Town Moderator for Wilmington, a position he proudly held for 13 years.

During his retirement, John's infectious laugh could be heard as he tore up the golf courses with his three iron at Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds in Marston Mills, Massachusetts and Spring Run Golf Course in Bonita Springs, Florida. John's life was defined by his deep love of family and his vibrant spirit that lit up every gathering.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Gail (Stackpole) Callan; his sons, David F. Callan and wife, Joanne, Christopher M. Callan, Jeffrey L. Callan; his daughter, Cara Peters and her husband, James. He was a devoted Papa to his grandchildren, Madison, Justin and Zachary.

John predeceased his sisters, Frances Reinhalter, Claire Carlson, Rita Callan, and Anne Dorlay; and his brothers, Thomas Callan, Edward Callan and Robert Callan.

Visiting Hours will be held at Our Lady of Victory Parish, 230 South Main Street, Centerville, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, August 12, from 10:30am to 11:30am, with a Funeral Mass immediately following at 11:30am. Burial at Mosswood Cemetery, in Cotuit, will be private.

Gail,
We are so sorry to hear the sad news on John's passing.
You and John were the best neighbors on Pine Street We could ever hope for. You and John were together for 35 years, where did the time go. Your relationship was a true love story.
We will always remember John as a kind gentle man.
May your beautiful memories bring you a bit of peace.
