Fr. Doherty was a very prayerful priest, he loved his ministry and loved life. He was devoted to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He loved to play tennis and was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan and Patriots fan. He loved to read and recite poetry. He was a hospital chaplain for many years and had a special bond with the sick and infirmed giving them spiritual comfort as well as a kind shoulder to lean on. He always had a thirst for knowledge, reading every newspaper and book he could get his hands on. He listened to Mother Angelica twice a day. He had a strong kinship with Pope Benedict XV!.
Those of us who were privileged enough to know and love him have been enriched spiritually and are better persons for having been in his life. May Perpetual lead and guide him to heaven.
