JOHN MCNALLY Obituary

McNally, John E., MD
Of Boston, died August 27. He was 81. Born in Fitchburg, he graduated from St. Bernard's High School. He attended St. Anselm College and then St. Louis University School of Medicine. He married Lenora Skruck of Hubbard, Ohio, on August 30, 1958. Dr. McNally entered the Public Health Service and lived in Baltimore, New York City, Seattle, and Boston. In 1966, he settled Manchester, New Hampshire. Dr. McNally established a pathology practice at the Elliot Hospital which also served outlying hospitals in Peterborough and Derry. He was chief of staff at Elliot Hospital in the 1970s and was head of the pathology department. He was a founder of the New Hampshire Symphony. He retired and moved to Boston in 1997. In addition to his wife, he leaves five children, Catherine Allen of Somerville, Monica Hough of Falmouth , Sean McNally of Newton, Alicia McNally of Florida, and Alexandra McNally of Boston. He also leaves a brother, Jeremiah, of Baltimore and seven grandchildren.

Kate called me today to tell me that Uncle John had passed. He was my hero; I thought he was the most handsome,coolest person I knew. He taught me, by example, that it was good to be smart and to dream big. I will miss him.
