John Migliaccio Obituary

MIGLIACCIO, John P. Age 79, of Pocasset, died November 29, 2009. Born in Woburn and raised in Everett, he was the son of the late Dominic and Eleonora (Pellegrini) Migliaccio. After graduating from Everett High School, he joined the US Air Force and served 24 years, stationed in places such as Morocco, Korea and Alaska. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. In 1973, he retired as a Master Sergeant. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he worked for Cape Cod Gas Company for 22 years. He was a member of the Air Force Sergeant's Association and American Legion Post 188 in Sandwich. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, especially when he hosted his Labor Day weekend Clam Bake. Renowned for his attention-to-detail, combined with years of having been a First Sergeant, he put his family through their paces as he made certain the myriad preparations would guarantee a great time for all. Sgt. Mig would not have had it any other way! He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor (Oliver) Migliaccio and their five children: Ellen and her husband Robert Hammond of Pocasset, John Migliaccio of Bourne, Lenore Migliaccio of Framingham, Nora and her husband Raymond Glass of North Falmouth, and Robert and his wife Emily Migliaccio of North Falmouth. Also, seven grandchildren, Anthony, Jarell, Janine, Gina, Nora, Lyvia and Dante, and one great granddaughter, Mia. He was preceded in death by his only sister, Mary DeMaso. Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Shore Rd., Pocasset, followed by burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Cape Cod Healthcare Foundation, 348C Gifford St, Falmouth, MA 02540. nickersonbournefuneralhome.com

Elinor.........

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband. My thoughts & prayers go out to you and your family at this most difficult time.

I had the pleasure of working with "Mig" for many years at the gas company. Will always remember the good times we had when the company was "family operated"....

I thank you for Mig's service to God & Country...

With My Deepest Sympathy,

I was sorry to read about "Johnnie's" passing. I knew him when I was 16 in Everett and have wonderful memories of all the fun we had. I also had big labor day parties in Hyannis and got a kick out of the similarity.

We want to let the entire family know how very sorry we were to here of Mr. Migs passing. He was a man that was so dedicated to his family. I also know how much it meant to Gary to be included as a "third son". We have many memories that we have shared with the entire family, which we will always cherish and be grateful for.
Love you all, Gary and Gig
