As a colleague at Merrimack College, we would visit often as he lived across from the college at the time. He would entertain me with his experiences in the army and the many hilarious episodes while serving.

John and I were colleagues at Merrimack College where he taught history. My wife and I visited him and his wife and family in New Hampshire. We spent many an hour in discussions and laughter. We would call each other often.
