JONATHAN SIMONDS Obituary

SIMONDS, Jonathan O. Needham, MA – Jonathan Otis Simonds, age 91, passed away peacefully on Oct. 22, 2021 after a long well-lived life. His family and beloved wife of 64 years were at his side during his final hours. Born in Bronxville, NY in 1930, Jonathan grew up in Cambridge, MA where he attended Brown & Nichols School, Middlesex School, and Harvard, Class of 1952. He also earned an MBA from Boston University. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Marcia Taylor Rowbotham, and together they raised three daughters, Jane, Rebecca, and Kate. He worked in marketing before turning to education and applying his business acumen as Assistant Head of School and Business Manager at Kent Place School in Summit, NJ. He would go on to serve as Director of Development at Kent Place and the Knox School in St. James, NY before retiring to his beloved summer community, Menauhant on Cape Cod. Jonathan was predeceased by parents, Margaret Gass Simonds and Lester Otis Simonds, his sister, Mary K. Parkman and her husband Samuel. He leaves his wife, Marcia R. Simonds, his three daughters, Jane Simonds of Amherst, MA and wife Nancy Sardeson, Rebecca Simonds of Milton, MA and husband Bjorn Olsen, and Kate McKee of Dedham, MA and husband R. Judge McKee. He also leaves his sister, Margaret Lincoln and her husband Richard, cousins, Barbara Brockunier, Charles Brockunier and Andrew Cowling, and six dearly loved grandchildren, Jonathan Simonds, Samuel Simonds, Christopher Olsen, Taylor McKee Sanchez, Parker McKee, and Chase McKee, plus numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will take place this summer in Menauhant on Cape Cod.
