Joseph Grammel Obituary

78 years old, of 39 Helena Street, died Tuesday morning, August 1, while at his York, Maine, home after a brief illness.{M1} He is survived by his loving wife Catherine Ann (McDonald) of 51 years, 2 sons Mark D. Grammel of Leominster and Scott A. Grammel of Chicago, Illinois, a daughter, Kerry A. Wyman and husband Rick of Bellevue, Washington, his mother Mrs. Kaino Seppala of Sterling, 3 grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon and Hailey Wyman, and a niece Linda Ware of Pleasantville, California.{M1} Mr. Grammel was born on March 26, 1928, in Taunton, the son of Joseph F. and Kaino (Seppala) Grammel and had lived most of his life in the Leominster area. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in the class of 1946 and later graduated from Bentley College in 1950 with a degree in Accounting. In 1955 Joseph and Catherine Ann were married and settled in Leominster. After having worked as a staff accountant in Gardner and Worcester in 1960, Mr. Grammel started his own Certified Public Accounting Firm. In 1965 he became the founding owner and senior partner of Grammel and Keogh, CPAs of Leominster. After selling his practice he was employed by Bovenzi, Inc.{M1} Mr. Grammel served in the Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and was a veteran of the Korean War.{M1} He loved his family and was especially proud of his 3 grandchildren. He loved reading, his home in York Harbor, Maine, and the Red Sox. He enjoyed being a member of the Worcester and Fitchburg Art Museums, The Old York Historical Society and a Board Member of Stage NRCK HO Association.{M1} Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 5, from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, LEOMINSTER, with a Mass at 9:30 am in St. Leo's Church, 128 Main Street, Leominster. Burial will be in St. Leo's Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held Friday, August 4 from 5-8 pm and Saturday morning 8-9 a.m. in the Funeral Home.
