Dear Joey,

This is it. The day you left. May you always know love and kindness in Heaven, and enjoy your family who passed before you.

Here's to your good health, wonderful sense of humor, gentle heart, and an eternity in Heaven with God by your side. You'll always be loved and missed.

Dear Joey,

I know that tomorow is the second anniversary of your death but I wanted to get my last tribute in before this guest book ends.

May God always bless you.

Thank you for all of the wonderful times we spent together.

You always helped many people in the past where you lived when they had no one else to turn to.

You had a good heart and one of your neighbors told me that you and she prayed sometimes together on your porch.

I'll always care, and always miss you.

With Love always,

A truly wonderful and Uplifting story

After living what I felt was a "decent" life, my time on earth came to the end.

The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting
room of what I thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defense table.

As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor."He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me.

He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen.I sat down and looked to my left and there sat My Attorney,
a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me,I felt I knew Him.

The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes.

He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room I couldn't take my eyes off of Him.

As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, "Let us begin."The prosecutor rose and said,
"My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this man
belongs in hell."
He proceeded to tell of lies that I told, things that I stole,
and In the past when I cheated others. Satan told of other horrible
Perversions that were once in my life and the more he spoke, the further down in my seat I sank.

I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the Devil told of sins that even I had completely forgotten about. As upset as I was at Satan for telling all these things about
me, I was equally upset at My Attorney who sat there silently not Offering any form of defense at all.

I know I had been guilty of those things, but I had done some
good in my life - couldn't that at least equal out part of the harm I'd done?

Satan finished with a fury and said, "This man belongs in hell,
he is guilty of all that I have charged and there is not a person who can prove otherwise."

When it was His turn, My Attorney first asked if He might
approach the bench.

The Judge allowed this over the strong objection of Satan,
and beckoned Him to come forward.

As He got up and started walking, I was able to see Him in
His full splendor and majesty.

I realized why He seemed so familiar; this was Jesus
representing me, my Lord and my Savior.

He stopped at the bench and softly said to the Judge, "Hi,
Dad," and then He turned to address the court.

"Satan was correct in saying that this man had sinned,
I won't deny any of these allegations.

And, yes, the wage of sin is death, and this man deserves to be punished."

Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His Father with
outstretched arms and proclaimed, "However, I died on the cross so that
this person might have eternal life and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so he is Mine."

My Lord continued with, "His name is written in the Book of Life, and no one can snatch him from Me.

Satan still does not understand yet.
This man is not to be given justice, but rather mercy."

As Jesus sat down,

He quietly paused, looked at His Father and said,
"There is nothing else that needs to be done."

"I've done it all. It Is Finished !"

The Judge lifted His mighty hand and slammed the gavel down.
The following words bellowed from His lips..

"This one is free."

The penalty for him has already been paid in full

"Case dismissed."

As my Lord led me away, I could hear Satan ranting and raving,
"I won't give up, I will win the next one." I asked Jesus as He gave me
my instructions where to go next, "Have you ever lost a case?"
Christ lovingly smiled and said,

"Everyone that has come to Me and asked Me to represent them has received the same verdict as you,~Paid In Full~
"Stop telling God how big your storm is.
Instead, tell the storm how big your God is!"

Joey,
Two years ago tomorrow night was the last time I ever talked with you because you died 2 days later.

You said you weren't feeling well, but that was often the case because of your health problems.

I could never have imagined that you'd be gone so fast.

I still think about you and miss and care about you as I'm sure others who knew and loved you do also.

With Love,

I wonder if you know when I come to visit your resting place? I think Heaven allows many wonderful things to happen.

Joey,

Yes it's true that I have many well kept memories of you. I know I will remember them for the rest of my life.

And I remember a very young Joey since I haven't seen him for close to a few decades.

So I really appreciate seeing him the way he truly looks in his senior years
with his snow white hair and beard and not the way I remember him the last time I saw him those many years ago.

Yes Jan, I cared and loved my cousin Joey. I wish I could have showed him that I cared and loved him more often than I did.

But I have faith and I believe in my heart and soul that I will see him again.

Yes, the picture was kind of small and I didn't notice that Krueger's hand was on Joey's head till you mentioned it.

Thanks again for the pictures Jan and take care.

I forgot to mention that in the picture of Joey's porch that's decorated for Halloween, if you look at Freddie Kreuger's right arm, it's on top of Joey's head. I wish the pictures were larger for a better view of all.

Joey,

That act of kindness when giving my sister the metal push cart has enabled her to put all of her groceries on it and then push it onto the wheelchair lift, (installed for Angelo before he died),press a button to bring it onto the deck and bring it right into her kitchen.
It's made life much easier for her, as you thought it would and does remind us of you daily.
I want to add one more picture, don't know if I really know what I'm doing in that dept. but I'll try. I miscalculated your death date which I know is Feb 23rd.

With Love,

February 7, 2010

We all think of you everyday, Everyday when I bring in my grogeries in the push cart you gave me. We named it the Joey and the lift my husband put in before he died id the Angelo. Sounds silly but, you are remembered daily.

Rest in peace, Joan

I really can't believe that in 11 days, you'll have been gone from this earth for 2 years. After all of this time it still doesn't seem real somehow.

Tomorrow is Veteran's Day. I salute you. You and so many others gave so very much to guarentee the freedom of this country. All gave some, some gave all, and many have lived with the horror of war long after they left the military. Thank You and all who served for your extreme sacrifices.

Joey,

Well, this is the first full day of Autumn, my favorite season. Time to put away the summer things, which you would be doing now if you were here, and preparing for colder weather to follow.

You have none of those worries anymore. I pray you're thriving in whatever season you choose to be in up there.

Joey~I recently had my anniversary and it reminded me of how generous and warm hearted you have always been to me!

I will never forget that you offered us your trailer house in New Hampshire for our honeymoon for a whole week.

I continue to have wonderful memories of that time along with my wife and I still have the pictures that we took while there.

That was many years ago Joey and it was a different world back then.

We were all very close then as cousins and as families and I will never forget it!

Most of all Joey~I will never forget you!

Joey,

A long time ago you put a bumper sticker on my car that read "Freedom isn't Free". This poem that I came accross today reminds me of those words.

Freedom isn't free
© By Anonymous

I watched the flag pass by one day it fluttered in the breeze.

A young marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..

I looked at him in uniform
So young, So tall, So proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant Amen.

When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children
Of mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard at the bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
NO, FREEDOM ISN'T FREE.

Joey,
This is the article that goes with the arm and torch part of the statue of liberty, from my last entry.

Lending a hand
A gift from France, the Statue of Liberty -- which also served as a lighthouse in its early years -- was designed by Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi. The money for the base and pedestal, however, came from American pockets, with newspaper publisher Joseph Pulitzer among the most passionate in raising funds. In this picture, the forearm and torch of the statue is seen on display at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia in 1876. The public could pay fifty cents to climb to the balcony of the torch.

I miss you, as I'm sure many others do.

Joey,

It's officially the 4th of July.

Thank you for your military contributions and extreme sacrifices for your country.

This is a picture of the original "statue of Liberty", the stand and base, etc, was the works of the U.S.A.

With Love,

July 3, 2009

Just checking in Joey on this day before the fourth of July! The base here has prepared itself for a grand celebration tomorrow!

It's the same every year! It's quite wonderful to honor and give respect to our country, our flag, our freedom and all those who have fought, served and died for our country and it's way of life!

I remember when I was stationed at Fort Devens in 1976. I was a part of the old calvary color guard who presented our flag during special occasions and celbrations.

I also remember in Bunker Hill restaurant there was a special military function which at that time Edward Kennedy and Tip O'Neil attended as special guest's and or guest of honor, among other famous names!

I also remember you visiting me and my family in Ayer! We were both young then Joey and I enjoyed your company and conversations tremendously!

I was still in the military then and soon left for an assignment to Fort Polk as an infantryman soon after your visit and in 78 I was sent to Germany!

No matter where I was assigned the Fourth of July was always a special ocassion to those in the military, to myself and always with your visit in mind!

You made enormous sacrifices Joey, during your time in Viet Nam! I want to thank you for all your sacrifices that you made personally while in the service Joey!

I respect you, admire you and love you Joey!
You will never be forgotten!

Joey,
The Fourth of July is coming up, our Independence Day. I've included a picture. I know it's not Veteran's Day, but this is a rock that was painted by a college student in Iowa, I'm showing one side, there are many beautiful pictures and words all over this rock. The American flag is NOT draped over the rock, it's painted on that way. Such respect from someone so young. I also respect and admire all, including you, who made our country free and all of the sacrifices that contributed to our freedom today.

Joey,

I went to your final resting place today to change your flowers again. I always have mixed feelings when I'm there.

I know that your earthly body rests there, and that's who I knew, the alive Joey. I believe that your soul is in heaven. I wish that you could have lived longer and been less sick to enjoy more life on earth. I remember what you used to say about wishes, you'd say, "Wishes are like trying to grab smoke in the air", and we'd laugh.

I pray that you're one of the happiest and healthiest people in heaven.

Joey,
You having been in the Army, and while serving in Viet Nam received a purple heart.
Taps was played at your final resting place. I wonder if you knew the words to the tribute? I didn't, and looked it up; here it is, and much deserved. You didn't die in battle, but certainly deserved taps.

Taps

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh
Go to sleep
peaceful sleep
May the soldier
or sailor
God keep
On the land
or the deep
Safe in sleep
Love, good night
Must thou go
When the day
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well
Speedeth all
To their rest
Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day
and the stars
Shineth brigt
Fare thee well;
Day is gone
Night is on.
Thanks and praise
For our days
'Neath the sun
'Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nign.

Apparently there are no Official words to taps, but this is the one that's generally accepted. You've always said, Some gave all, All gave some.

A MEMORIAL FOR [YOUR LOVED ONE] .....Joey . Anyone who cared for Joey can do this, I'll do it on the 1st anniversary of his death.Feb. 23

As I light these 4 candles in honor of you, I light one for my grief, one for my courage, one for our memories, and one for all the love you gave.

This candle represents my grief. The pain of losing you is intense. It reminds me of the depth of my love for you.

This candle represents my courage – to confront my sorrow, and the courage to say, "Life goes on".

This candle is in your memory – the times we laughed, the times we cried, the times we were angry with each other, the silly things you did, the caring and joy you gave me.

I cherish the special place in my heart that will always be reserved for you. I thank you for the gift your living brought to so many of us. I love you.

And then you can say their name.
Amen.

This 4 candle memorial doesn't have to be done in church. My plan is to light my candles at home and recite this prayer, with each candle.

In one month, you'll be gone for one year. I think this poem sums up the feelings that all who loved you feel.

IN MY HEART

I thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday,
And days before that too.
I think of you in silence.
I often speak your name.
Now all I have is memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake.
With which I will never part.
God has you in His keeping.
I have you in my heart.
