Jurgis Ausrotas Obituary

"To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die. – Thomas Campbell

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Jurgis "George" Ausrotas
passed away in his 96th year at Henley Place, London, on Monday July
8, 2019. For 71 years beloved husband of Anele "Nellie" Ausrotas whom
he called "my precious and only one". Dear father of Kristine Young
(Brian) and Richard (Stina). Loving grandfather of Kimberley (Glen),
Tricia (Corey), Brad and Kristi, and great-grandfather of Fiona and
Evangeline. George emigrated from Lithuania in 1947 to Timmins,
Ontario, working in forestry for Mountjoy Timber Co. and the
Hollinger gold mines to create a new life in Canada. In 1957, now
married and a father, he moved his family to a home in Nilestown
where he resided for the rest of his life. He proudly worked as a
garage attendant for the London Police Service and upon retirement he
became a part-time prison guard for the Ontario Provincial Police
until he was 90 years old! George was also an avid fisherman, loved
the outdoors and tending to his vegetable garden, particularly his
beets and potatoes. The family wishes to express their deepest
gratitude for the excellent support and coordination of services
provided by the LHIN, and the exceptional and compassionate care
given by the Henley Place staff during the last few weeks of George's
life. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350
William St., London on Sunday, July 14 from 2:00 - 5:00 pm. The
Funeral Service will be conducted in the chapel of the O'Neil Funeral
Home on Monday, July 15 at 11:00 am, followed by interment in St.
Peter's Cemetery, London. Online condolences & guest book at . In
kindness and loving memory donations can be made in George's name to
