Kenneth Geyer Obituary

GEYER, Kenneth W. Sr. 59, of Weymouth, went to be with the Lord on Sat., Feb. 26 at the Quincy Medical Center after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Doine) and his six children Kenneth Jr. and his wife Danielle of Methuen, Angela and her husband Peter Marchand of Hubbardston, Amy Ferrante and her husband Peter of Plymouth, Sarah and her husband Shawn Tucker of Rockland, Rebecca and her husband James Prentice Sr. of Kingston, Hannah and her husband Tony Souto of Stoughton. Beloved grandfather of Jared, Natalia and Nathan Marchand, Katie and Anthony Ferrante, Kiana, Brilyn and Alana Tucker, Jacob, David, and the late James Prentice Jr., Sonia Souto, Brooke Geyer and expecting three more grandchildren. He was the brother of Richard and his wife Beverly of NH, his sister Meg Strode and her husband Lindsay of Harwich and was predeceased by his brother James and his sister Karen. Also survived by his sister-in-law Regina of Oregon and his brothers in law Arthur of Weymouth and John and his wife Jane Doine. He was the son of the late Herlin and Esther (who passed away on Sun. Feb. 27). Kenny and Mary met and fell in love at age 18. Two years later their marriage of almost 39 years would begin. These years were spent lovingly raising their family. Kenny knew how blessed he was to have Mary as a wife. She was always there with unending support and true unconditional love. He had a love for Mary that was endearing and will last for eternity. Starting by learning his trade in high school, Kenny became a sheet metal worker. Years later he opened Commonwealth Ventilation Systems Inc. where he was president and co owner. Over the years, Kenny has had countless hobbies including mountain biking, weight lifting and running. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #17, Harmon Golf Club, and Braintree Gun Club. Kenny known by his grandchildren as "Nonno" loved family outings on his boat called "Liberty". He let the grandchildren help him "drive" his boat to go fishing, whale watching, and tour Boston Harbor Islands. He had a special and unique relationship with each of his children and grandchildren. On a nice day, you could find Kenny & Mary cruising around on his Harley or driving their 1970 Corvette. They also enjoyed water skiing, scuba diving and sailing. Their favorite trips were to Sanibel Island, Nova Scotia, and Vermont. A highlight was a family trip to Maui in 2001. Kenny enjoyed assembling and flying remote control airplanes with his brothers Jamie and Richie. He and his little sister Meg enjoyed playing tennis. He attended concerts with his sister Karen. 11 years ago Kenny was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Given a life expectancy of 5 years, he educated himself on noninvasive natural remedies. He applied what he learned and far surpassed doctors' expectations. We were blessed to have him for this "extra" time. Up until a month ago, he was able to enjoy his life to the fullest. He made an impact on everyone he met with his fun loving, adventurous, generous personality. Funeral Service will be held for both Kenneth and his mother Esther at the No. Weymouth McDonald Funeral Home at 40 Sea St. (Off Rt. 3-A at Bicknell Sq.) Thurs. March 3, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours for both Kenneth and his mother will be on Wed. 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kenny's memory to Potter's Field, PO Box 300, Whitefish, MT, 59937. www.mcdonald-funeralhomes.com

We're very sorry for your loss.
We met Kenny and Mary at the WORD OF
GOD church in Brockton. Kenny was
a very serious christian, and a very
serious husband and father. Can't
remember him without a smile on his
face, and a good word. As years
passed, we also went to church with
him at Cavalry Chapel of Boston, in
ROCKLAND. He always had time to stop
what he was doing, and talk with you.
We stayed good friends even after we
moved to FLORIDA.
With our deepest sympathy,
From Larry and Margaret Porter
