Lawrence McKevitt Obituary

McKEVITT, Lawrence T. Of Harwich Port, died Wednesday, April 14 in Chatham. He was the husband of Mary E. (Byrne) McKevitt. Father of Larry McKevitt Jr. of Cheshire, CT and Beth Pye of Chester, CT. Brother of Thomas L. McKevitt of Blue Ridge, GA and the late Paulina A. Maloney. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Funeral from Morris, O'Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 678 Main Street, Harwich Center, on Tuesday, April 20 at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Church, Rte. 28, West Harwich at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Harwich Port. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Monday, April 19 from 4-8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Though we are far away here in Norway, you are all on our minds and in our hearts as we think of the sorrow you feel from the loss of Larry senior. He was a warm and wonderful man.

My memories of Larry are invariably warm. Though he was my mother’s cousin, she loved him like a brother. They were life-long and close friends. At family gatherings it was always special to talk with Larry. He had a way of making you feel like you were personally important to him. He was a wonderful man and will surely be missed.
