Dean King gave me my first shot a real responsibility by appointing me to a few committees while at Univ. Lowell in 1980. I will never forget the lessons learned under his direction. I loved this man. Much of what I am today is due to his inspiration.

Thank YOU Dean King for all the help and inspiration you provided to me during my years at U Lowell. In 1981 when no one would give me the time of day, you did! I asked your secretary for 5-minutes with you to explain a problem and you gave me an hour! You extended a helping hand and you held me accountable... I thank God for you! You made an impact on my life and that impact is still reaching out today. As I did loss touch with you and many others from U Lowell since then, I just want you (your family) to know, your energy was not wasted... I did finally graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in the subject you went to "bat" for me over.... I wish you were here so I could give you a big hug and see you one last time to thank you... May the Lord Bless your family as they continue on with fond and loving memories of you... Until we meet again.... With Wonderful Thoughts and Memories, Jeff Trotter (St. Petersburg, FL/Brookline, NH)

My sympathies go out to Dean King's family during this very sad time. During my time at UMass Lowell, he helped me personally on many levels as I know he did for many of the students. All he asked for in return was that we apply those lessons learned in our future endeavors and treat others the way he treated us, which was with respect and compassion. Although I thanked him numerous times for his guidance and help, it was never enough. He will be missed by many, but his impact on my life and his legacy lives on.

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Dean Leo King. He was such a great man for ULowell who was an inspiration and guiding force for those students who worked for him and the University at large.

He taught me some very valuable lessons about leadership with compassion, and how to get the job done. His infectious good nature and humor was unique among administrators and made him approachable and memorable.

He will be missed and my condolences to his family & friends.

Dean King was a friend and helped guide me through college during a chaotic time of my life. I would'nt have graduated if it wasn't for his help and advice. I kept in touch with him over the years and visited his house in Lowell when I was in town and we shared a scotch. He also visited my house and met a number of my family who shared my admiration of him. I will miss him and want to pass on my condolences to his family....."

Dean King was always ready with a joke or piece of advice whenever I saw him. Were it not for his kindness and intervention on my behalf, I wouldn't have graduated on time. More than 20 years later, I cannot think of him without smiling.

Dean King was a key contributor to my decision to attend Lowell Tech in 1966 and an even bigger factor to my sticking it out to graduation in 1970. A real hero to thousands of students. He was a special man and Dean. May he rest in the peace and the presence of God.

To the King Family

I wanted to send along my deepest sympathies to your entire family.

I met Dean King during my orientation visit to the University of Lowell in May of 1987 and over the course of the next 5 years he became an adviser, a confidant, a mentor, and a friend. Simply stated, he changed my life and I would not be where I am today without the teaching, guidance, and friendship he gave to me.

To Dean King's family -
I am so sorry to have learned of Leo King's passing. I attended University of Lowell in the mid-80's and Dean King was someone I both admired and considered a friend. He shaped that university as well as many individuals there - what a tremendous gift it was to know him.
