I'm so sorry for your loss. I always found Mr. Tyrrell to be friendly, outgoing, and upbeat. The neighborhood will not be the same without him.

A great person with a great personality. He loved basketball and helped so many young players and coaches learn the game. All the former Medford guys will miss you!

Growing up on Lillian Road was a wonderful experience, and Mr. Tyrrell (yes, even as an adult, I still refer to Leo as Mr. Tyrrell) was such an important part of that experience. From early memories of his 4th of July fireworks in the circle, to a chance meeting just several weeks ago, he remains an extended parent of the neighborhood I loved.
I'll speak for my entire Shea (and Sheehy)family and thank him for making Lillian Road what it was and still is...

I met Leo when I was 9 years old. We had just moved into a new house next to his. I can't remember a day that I ever saw Leo without a smile and a "thumbs up". He and Phyllis and the kids were always great neighbors. Leo was a great role model for me and the kids in the neighborhood. Seeing Leo coach basketball at Milton High School is something that I'll never forget. After being gone for my 20's and 30's I moved back to the Neighborhood with my wife and two children. It was like I never left. Phyllis and Leo hadn't changed a bit, and now they had a whole new generation of kid's on the block. Over the last year it was tough to see Leo not able to get around so well, but he still had that smile and a "thumbs up". In his last year Leo was a brave fighter. He was determined to beat what was ailing him. He would go for walks when he could, and he would sometimes fall only to get up again and come back home. They didn't call him "Tiger" for nothing. Leo, thanks for for being a great neighbor, friend and role model for me and my kids. I will never forget you.

I have known Leo for forty years. First as a teacher and coach, and later as a mentor when I first started to teach in Milton in 1980. He was the greatest guy. I often run into people who knew him through MMA and his summer b-ball camps, and the stories we share are always filled with laughter and fond admiration. Both Mary Jo and I were fortunate to have known and worked with Leo. He always had a special word for the kids who needed it the most. He will surely be missed. But the stories will endure, and the people he touched are better for having known him. May his family find comfort in knowing that he was a teacher who truly made a difference.

I have many fond memories of the years that I worked with Leo at Pierce. He would hold court in the teachers room and keep all of us laughing with his stories.
I will truly miss Leo. He was one of a kind!

Mr. Tyrrell was my teacher at Milton High School. I am honored and grateful to have "Leo" as one of my favorite teachers. He was the best at MHS. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Many of us here at MMA will miss Leo very much. We here at the Facilities Department especially. It seems we all grew up with Leo and we became his extended family. I know I will miss those early morning visits in the summer and the suprise ones in the winter.
Farewell and God bless

I wish I was in my "real" house down in Florida...I could post so many fabulous photos of my pal Leo and Phyllis and "the costumes"!. He was such a trooper!! What a 'wizard' he let his so, so, so, so much loved wife, Phyllis, dress him up on Halloween. He was the most devoted husband I have ever known; and was so proud of the 'kids' that he had always given total tribute to Phyliss. We will all miss you. Here's to you, Leo...I'm sure there is Bud Light in Heaven.
