Lily Badger Obituary

BADGER, Lily L. (Aguilar) A resident of Winchester for forty years, August 16, 2010, Age 73. Loving wife of Al Badger. Devoted mother of James Badger and his wife Ellen of Winchester and Patrick Badger of Groveland. Cherished Grandmother of Jeffrey, Benjamin and Aidan. Dear sister of Jose` Aguilar and his wife Nancy of Framingham. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Born in Tela, Honduras, raised and educated on a Banana Plantation, Lily was fluent in English and Spanish. Her father died when she was seventeen so she worked to support the family. In 1960 at the age of twenty-three she was transferred to Boston from Central America to work as a legal secretary for the United Fruit Company. In 1961 she met her husband Al Badger from Nahant and they were married. In 1962 she gave birth to her first child James and in 1967 her second son Patrick. She brought her mother here from Honduras in 1963 and her brother here in 1966. In 1975 Lily was promoted to Executive Secretary to the CEO of United Fruit Company where she worked until 1977. She then worked as an Executive Secretary for a Computer Company retiring in 2006. She enjoyed bridge, poker, sailing, the beach, St. John in the Virgin Islands, The Boston Red Sox, the Celtic's, traveling to Spain, Italy, Rome and enjoyed Rock Concerts. She transcribed Braille for the National Braille press. Member of St. Mary's Church in Winchester since 1970. She enjoyed spending times with her three grandsons. Funeral from The Lane Funeral Home 760 Main St. (Rte. 38) WINCHESTER on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 9 A.M. followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church 155 Washington St. Winchester at 10 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 from 4-8 P.M. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. The family has requested that donation's be made in Lily's Memory to: The Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre St. Newton, MA 02458-2597 or to MGH Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, 165 Cambridge St, Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Known as a person of too many words, I am at a loss for them now with the loss of Lily. She was so beautiful, intelligent, and gracious (even when she was feisty) and she was one of so few people around whom I always felt comfortable. I am stunned by her sudden departure and my tears flow for you all.
