LYNCH, Margaret A. (Alberti) With wit, warmth, and boundless determination, Margaret Alberti Lynch lived ninety-four remarkable years before passing away peacefully on July 1, 2025, in Hingham, Massachusetts. Born in New York City to John and Rose Alberti, Margaret grew up in Rye, NY, where her lively spirit and keen mind were evident from an early age. She graduated from the College of New Rochelle in 1952, where she met the love of her life, Charles E. Lynch. They married the following year on the Fourth of July-a date that suited a woman whose independence and civic pride guided her whole life. The couple began their life together on Newbury Street in Boston before moving to Cohasset and where they spent seven decades. Margaret's dedication to service, leadership, and good governance defined both her professional and personal life. Active in the Cohasset League of Women Voters, she went on to serve as President of the Massachusetts League of Women Voters from 1971 to 1973. In her fifties, she returned to earn a law degree and went on to a distinguished twenty-year career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She served as Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs at the Department of Public Utilities and later as an attorney with the Department of Telecommunications and Energy. For more than sixty-five years, Margaret strengthened her community through service on local boards and commissions, and as a devoted member of Saint Anthony's Parish. She brought her intellectual energy and rigor to her treasured Cohasset Discussion Club presentations and found her peace at Friday afternoon BSO concerts. In their seventies, she and Charlie traveled widely, exploring the world together with the same curiosity and enthusiasm that defined their home life, where they often hosted thoughtful, spirited gatherings of friends, family, and neighbors. She will be remembered for her strong principles, generous heart, and formidable stubborn streak- We thank Margaret's caregivers at Linden Ponds in Hingham for the joy, compassion, comfort and dignity they brought to her. Margaret is survived by her daughters, Marylouise Crofton-Atkins of Boston and Edgartown, MA and Megan Wendling of Naples, FL; her beloved grandchildren, Charles Nicholas Patti of Naples, FL, and Beryl Crofton-Atkins of London, UK; her adored great-grandson, Charlie; her brand-new great-granddaughter, Penelope; her nieces, Megara McAlward and Michelle Dolan; and nephew Gerard Berrigan, Jr. She was predeceased by her sister Rosemary Berrigan. A liturgy of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held on October 15, at 10:00 AM, at St. Anthony of Padua in Cohasset, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret's memory to the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts or to a
charity of your choice that fosters the principles of good government and democracy. Visit
