MARY O'CONNOR Obituary

O'CONNOR, Mary B. Of Quincy, age 82, passed away peacefully, on May 24, 2023.   Born in Dorchester, she was the oldest of six children. After graduating from St. Margaret's High School, MRN, she entered the community of the Sisters of Charity, Halifax Nova Scotia. This is where she began her teaching career. Mary had a passion for teaching and a love of language. For many years, she worked at Snug Harbor Elementary School in Quincy heading the Writing Workshop and working directly with students who meant the world to her. She inspired many students with her love of reading. There are many families in Germantown who still treasure the books their children made with Mary. She was a loving and generous woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  Daughter of the late Thomas and Blanche (Cosgrove) O'Connor. Cherished sister of Thomas O'Connor of VA, James O'Connor of Revere, Robert O'Connor of London and the late John and William O'Connor. Loving aunt of Thomas O'Connor, Erin Simione and Michael O'Connor. Longtime significant other of Robert Oullette; and his children, Janine, Bob, Ron and Randy. Dear friend to many; especially her devoted friends, Madelyn Jackman and Peggy O'Neil.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the Visiting Hours on Friday, 8:30-9:30 AM, in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY, followed by the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy, at 10 AM. See www.Keohane.com for directions and online condolences.

Mary made life sparkle. She emitted joy wherever she was. Mary inspired each person she met to be a bit happier and a bit more joyful. The night sky is brighter because Mary is a shining star now. I am so blessed to have had Mary as a friend in my life.

Mary was an exceptional person. She was witty, clever and always considerate. Treats she shared with her mother Blanche. I went to MRM with her and with some others from MRM entered the Sisters of Charity (Halifax) in 1958. She was certainly loved by the "band". Condolences to her brothers and her dear friend Madelyn.
