MARY POWER Obituary

POWER, Mary M. (Cradock) 84, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2016 surrounded by her loving children. Recently from Pembroke and previously Hull, Mary was raised in Jamaica Plain on Montebello Road, the oldest daughter of Jim and Nonie Cradock. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and Mission Church High School, where she met the love of her life, the late John "Beaver" Power. Together they built and shared a wonderful life centered around their dear family and friends. While she enjoyed several years working at Talbots, Mary's life was devoted to raising her seven children and supporting her beloved family. Seeing and bringing out the best in others, Mary led her life with kindness, generosity and love. With her contagious smile, a heart of gold, and an abundance of Irish hospitality, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and many fond memories of gatherings over the years, filled with food, songs and laughter. Always able to make you feel welcome, warm your heart, and put a smile on your face, her passion and life revolved around her family and close friends. Mary's spirit and love will be carried on by her seven children and their partners: Pat and Neil Donovan of Bethel, ME, Jackie and Mary Power of Salem, NH, Chrissie and Eddie Straughn of Cohasset, Michael and Colleen Power of West Roxbury, Suey Power of Hull, Brian and Joan Power of Scituate, and Jay Power of Hingham. "Nana" leaves behind and will always be in the hearts of her 21 grandchildren and soon to be 7 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her sister, Patsy Perry, Mary leaves siblings Helen and Pat Doherty; Christine and Jim (deceased) Tracey, Jim and Jean Cradock, Jack "Butchie" and Suzy Cradock, brother in-law Ronnie Perry, and many nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list but not forgotten. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street (Rte 139) MARSHFIELD. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, April 7, at 9:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Thecla Church, 145 Washington Street in Pembroke. Moments ago, having first time read this notice rendered me remembering meeting Power family, one summer evening, 1974, when amidst summer months, John and Mary Power and family were residing Hull, Massachusetts home. Enjoyable was entering Power home. This home atmosphere was peaceful, uncluttered and heartwarming.

Mary and I talked while being situated inside this home screened porch; we were seated upon wicker rocking chairs, facing Gunrock Beach. Sun was setting. Mary is here remembered being warm, good humored and spirited. Mary exuded generally calm nature, amidst loving God, husband John, John and Mary children and friends.

Dear cousins, my sincere sympathies for the loss of Mary, I am very sorry that I could not make it down to her services. Your parents were so so special to mine. My mother raved about them always, truly they were among her favorites! Your parents always spoke to me with such kindness and warmth, it was as if they were interested in my daily life even though I probably only saw them a few times a year if that. I will always remember them with such happiness and I will admire their relationship as was so apparent their love for each other and their family. Take care and God bless you all.

Mary and Beaver were so much a part of our lives at Peter Parley Rd and Park Lane. We danced and sang and shared our ups and downs. We played in OLOL variety shows and at the Sat. dances. We oversaw and took part in our children's education at OLOL school. Our children became great friends to each other and participated in many events together, especially Camp Fatima every August. My heart is filled with sorrow for the Power families loss of their lovely mother/grandmother. Sincere symphony from Marie

The South Boston High Class of 1972 sends warm thoughts to the family of our beloved teacher Mr. Power as you travel this difficult road with the passing of your mother. Having your father as a teacher I can hear him speak lovingly of your mother. In his opinion she was a walking saint here on earth and now she really will be a saint in heaven.
Respectfully,
