McCarthy. He is survived by his children, Michael McCarthy and wife Dawn Marie, and Kristen Portillo & husband Jonathan, all of Salem, NH; his siblings, Timothy, Robert, Cathy & John McCarthy; his grandchildren, Vincent & Salvatore McCarthy and Alan, Jacob, Hannah and Jonathan Portillo, and several nieces and nephews.
Visting Hours: Friday, Dec. 28th from 8:30 AM - 9:30 AM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., SALEM, NH followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill, MA. Burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. Memorial contributions to: Mulitiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6520 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33309-2132. Michael, I will always miss you.......You, me, John and Leo had SO very many adventures years ago. I'm glad we were able to reconnect a couple years ago and sad there wasn't more time. From our time at Umass Amherst to Lake Sebago, Skiing trips, the time you came to visit me & Judy in Calif, our Christmas family get togethers at your house or ours, shoveling snow to make spending money as teens, our summer job at the Electron accelerator, the apartment we shared with Malcom in Inman Sq., Kelly Court with John, Leo and Cathy, Harvard Sq., to Cape Cod and all over Cambridge.......more fun times than I can possibly remember......You fought a world class battle against MS while all along being a good father, grandfather, son and brother. May there be a Brighams and a fast car up there for you and the loving arms of those who went before you. RIP Michael ..... Steve

Im saddened to hear of Michaels passing. I always remember the story Bob told me about him & Michael went to pick up a pizza and on the way home they dropped it, it landed face down on the sidewalk, they did their best to pick off the dirt & pebbles but no one was fooled.

Michael was my uncle. We talked a lot on the phone over the years. I hadn't talked to him in awhile and was thinking I need to give him a call soon. I have so many great memories of him. I'll always remember the vacation we took together with my father in Cape Cod in the summer of 1983. We all saw Reurn of the Jedi together. I'll always treasure that memory. I can't believe you're gone Uncle Mike. You were kind, compassionate, and empathetic. You always cared so much about me. I feel like we were kindred souls. I love you and will miss you so much! Godspeed.

I am deeply saddened to hear the news about Michael. My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to his family. Mike was a close friend and co-worker who I've had the pleasure to know for 40 years. We shared a lot of good times and many stories over the years. We were also neighbors when he lived in Methuen. It breaks my heart to hear this news. Mike will always be in my thoughts and prayers. He was a great friend and a great person. I will miss him very much.
