I met Nancy nearly 40 years ago when I moved into the third floor of her building. My roommate and I were just out of college and soon became fast friends with our wonderful landlady who was just bursting with energy, wisdom, and unbridled excitement about the North End. Those were the DAYS, Nancy! You were like a surrogate mother to me and taught me how to make meatball soup and calzone!
After eight years I moved on to my own place, with Nancy’s warm encouragement. I remember bawling as I jumped in the moving van and saw Nancy waving down to me from her window. Even the moving guy was heartbroken. To this day, that building feels like “home” to me. We remained in touch over the years getting together for lunch or a phone chat. Sadly we played phone tag all this year and I missed having one last call with my dear friend. What a loss. You were so special. The North End will never be the same, Nancy. Rest In Peace, incredible lady. ❤

My deepest sympathy to Nancy's family and friends. Nancy and I spent a lot of time together at meetings during the Big Dig. She was a feisty lady, but always a lady. God bless.

We will miss you, Nancy...I have many fond memories of our friendship and your guidance to me and to other members of the Boston Big Dig team. Due in no small part to your efforts, we made it a better project and contribution to the City of Boston and the region...and also had the enjoyment of each others' company along the way. Respectfully, Peter M. Zuk.
