HEGARTY, Patrick J. Of Newton, formerly of Wellesley and Amherst, NH, April 7, 2016, at the age of 100. Beloved husband of the late Anne (McCourt), and father to Paul Hegarty and his late wife Karen (Clapp) of Natick, and Anne Hernandez and her husband Dr. Pedro Hernandez of Amarillo, TX. Grandfather of Kim Waters and her husband Jack of Natick, Jeff Hernandez of Amarillo, TX and the late Andrew Hernandez. Great grandfather of Kyle Hegarty. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Hegarty was predeceased by his 6 sisters; Della Mayhew, Julia Dunn, Kathleen Davis, Nora Hegarty, May Noonan and Peg Donahue. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, April 12 at 10 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 9 Glen Rd., Wellesley followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be Monday from 4-7 PM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St., WELLESLEY. Mr. Hegarty was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served in WW II as Infantry Unit Commander in the 94 Division 301st Infantry Division, known as Patton's Ghost Corps, where he was awarded 4 Bronze Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge.
