PAUL CREIGHTON Obituary

CREIGHTON, Paul F., Sr. In Brighton, August 7, 2013. On a warm August morning in 1918 in Neponset on Dorchester Bay, Paul Francis Creighton was born to Bill and Mary McKeon Creighton of South Boston MA, the fifth and last child of a long and happy marriage. Paul joined his brother Buddie and sisters, Frances and Alice. The oldest, Willie, was serving on the USS Wenonah in combat on the Mediterranean Sea. In 1925 the family moved to the suburbs; Oak Square, Brighton. Paulie was a good son and brother, the apple of their eyes. 1930 he entered Boston Public Latin School graduating with the Class of 1936 with whom he made lifelong friends sharing good times and the trepidation of red marks on report cards. After graduation he began long successful career with the United States Post Office Boston, rising to a top management tier. In December 1941 he joined the war effort. Paul served throughout the war years in the US Navys noteworthy PT Boat Squadron 13 seeing combat in the Aleutian Islands and the Battle for the Liberation of the Philippines. Returning home in 1945 Paul rejoined the Post Office and started a family with the former Eileen Duggan of Allston. They worked to raise their three boys to be productive good citizens. Paul was very active in the community, religious and veterans affairs, a good neighbor and a good friend. Paul and Eileen with son John eventually moved to the suburbs of West Roxbury. Paul retired from government service in 1977 and cared for his wife until, sadly, she passed away in 1984. Paul continued on with his true mission in life to bring joy and fun into other peoples lives. In retirement he spent some of winters time in Florida coming back in spring to his beloved Boston. In 2006 he returned for good to The City of Boston finishing out his lifes journey back in Oak Sq. at Presentation Manor where he had great support and gathered his last cadre of friends. He reluctantly leaves us. Paul is survived by his sons, John, Bill and Paul, their families, his many relatives and many friends. Funeral from the Lehman Reen & McNamara Funeral Home, 63 Chestnut Hill Ave., (nr. Brighton Courthouse) BRIGHTON, Tuesday at 9 am. Funeral Mass in St. Ignatius Church, Chestnut Hill at 10 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting Hours Monday 4-8 pm. Interment Private. Dear Paul,Bill, and John,
My condolences to you on the loss of your Dad. My fondest
memory of your Dad was that he drove convertible automobiles and how cool I thought that was. I think all of his offspring were pretty cool
also.

With affection and sympathy,
Bob Mee
