PAUL OCKERS Obituary

OCKERS, Paul Hendrik Age 88, passed away on December 7, from the effects of a stroke. He made his home in East Bridgewater for 58 years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Paul was born in Brockton in 1935 to Maurice and Genevieve Ockers. After graduating from Thayer Academy, he left in his beloved 1935 Buick for the University of Maine at Orono. After perhaps more play than study, he joined the Army and served in Germany. After serving for two years, he returned to UMaine and graduated in 1961. Always up for adventure, he and his wife, Sandra, then drove across country ending with them living in Seattle. Upon returning to the East Coast, Paul began his career as a stockbroker. Paul truly never met a stranger and his ease and delight in people led to his partnership at Kimball and Cross with two of his dearest friends, Everett and Al. Paul continued as a stock broker in Boston until he was 80 and his commuter rail friends held a retirement party for him. He loved sailing, a wood-burning fire, gardening, dogs and most people. One of Paul's greatest joys was introducing Adam and David to the prevailing winds of the Eggomoggin Reach in, "The Secret", a Concordia 31. If one has a wooden boat, then one, of course, must build a house in Brooklin, ME around it to facilitate it's maintenance. Paul was predeceased by his son, Andrew. He is survived by wife of 63 years, Sandra; son, Matthew (Nancy); grandsons, Adam and David; and sister, Cornelia Connelly. Celebration of life will be held on December 30, at 11am, at Sachem Rock Farm, 355 Plymouth Street, East Bridgewater. Memorial donations may be made to the Peninsula Ambulance Corps in Blue Hill, Maine.
