Peter E. FUCHS

FUCHS, Peter E. Age 80, of Brockton, died surrounded by his loving family on January 18, 2023, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, following a brief illness. Peter was the loving husband of the late Carol (Bergen) Fuchs. Born and raised in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Peter and Georgette (Simon) Fuchs.

Peter was a graduate of New Bedford High School and received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Bridgewater State College. He spent 33 years at Needham High School, first as a beloved history teacher, and later as Dean of Students, retiring in 2001. Time spent with his family and cats was so important to him; he especially loved being involved in his grandchildren's lives. He attended every event possible and was brought such joy by any update about their lives, big or small. He enjoyed traveling and was passionate about baseball, especially the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod League. He was also a fan of jazz and blues music, with an impressive collection and knowledge of all music genres. Everyone who knew him will remember his slow smile growing into that deep belly laugh. His sense of humor will be missed by us all.

Peter was a very proud dad and father-in-law to Dr. Debra Fuchs-Ertman and her husband, Jeffrey, of Scarborough, ME, Carolyn Fuchs and her husband, Tal Aviezer, of Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, and Laurie Delano and her husband, Peter, of Weymouth. He was a proud and loving Papa to Melissa Ertman and her partner, Romée Rüter, Justin Delano, Amanda Ertman, and Ryan Delano; he will be dearly missed by his sister, Monica Lowell, and her husband, Roger, of Carver.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123), BROCKTON 02301 on Friday, January 27 from 4pm-7pm. The Funeral Procession will form at 9:30am on Saturday, January 28 for a Funeral Mass at Christ the King Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
