SAPERS, Rhoda (Berman) A Caring and Creative Soul Rhoda Sapers, age 85, of Boston, MA. Comcast is mourning the death of one of their best customers. Rhoda utilized the telephone exactly as Alexander Graham Bell planned...to connect to family and friends on a regular basis. If you knew Rhoda, you would hear from Rhoda as she was interested in what you were doing and sharing her thoughts. She was a great communicator. Besides being an extraordinary friend, wife, mother and grandmother, Rhoda was an accomplished nurse, artist, and philanthropist. With a Master's Degree in nursing from Boston University, she spent more than 20 years working at the Beth Israel Hospital; as a nurse, a nursing instructor, and eventually developing health education programs at the hospital. Rhoda discovered her inner artist later in life, working in a variety of mediums. Best known for her glass jewelry and "construction art", Rhoda showed at the Newton Public Library, SoWa, the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and the Georgia O'Keefe Museum in Santa Fe. In her spare time, she was President of the Women's Division at the Combined Jewish Philanthropies, Chairman of the Russian-Jewish Committee, a co-leader of numerous missions to Israel, the 2nd President of the Leventhal-Sidman JCC, and on the boards of BOLLI, Facing History & Ourselves, and Berklee College of Music. Not only will Rhoda be sorely missed by her husband, Bill Sapers; her children, Michael, Aviva and David Sapers; their spouses, Marci Sapers and Judith Sydney; her grandchildren, Adam Sapers, Josh Sapers, Ari Sapers-Sydney, Jonah Sapers-Sydney, and Ilan Sapers; her sister Elaine Goodman along with her brother and sister-in-law Carl and Judith Sapers, and many nieces and nephews; she will be missed by the world she impacted positively and wholly. Funeral services will be held at Temple Israel, 477 Longwood Avenue, (parking available on the Riverway), Boston on Tuesday, February 6 at 11:00 am. Burial at Sharon Memorial Park, Sharon. Memorial observance to be announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to extend Rhoda's legacy could contribute to Berklee College of Music or Facing History & Ourselves.
