Please accept my sincere condolences on Richard´s passing. I knew him as the Assistant Watch Officer of Slocum Watch at Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in 1969. I had just flunked out of college and was about to enter the Navy and decided to give Outward Bound a try before I left for active duty. I remember him as a smart, caring individual who consistently set high expectations of all the crew. I remember him with great fondness. I would have liked him to know that the lunkhead who flunked out of college ended up returning to college on the G.I. bill and then Tufts University School of Medicine. The lessons I learned at Outward Bound have helped guide me through life. I credit Richard for giving me the memories and lessons that proved so valuable to me over the years.
