MAGUIRE, Robert E. A lifelong resident of Newton, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at age 84. Survived by his beloved wife Janet (Rokit); brother Michael Maguire of Great Barrington; and many nieces; and nephews; as well as wonderful friends; and in-laws. Loving son of the late George C. and Maryellen (Kelley) Maguire; and dear brother to the late Thomas P. Maguire, Margaret Fox, Eleanor Mahoney and George E. Maguire. A graduate of Newton High School, Robert worked in the Engineering Department of the City of Newton for over 40 years. He was a proud veteran of the US Army Reserves and a lifelong member of the Newton YMCA. He and Janet were avid travelers and Robert, a skilled triathlete, skied all over the world. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 29, at 1PM, in the Chapel at Newton Cemetery, 791 Walnut St., Newton. Burke & Blackington BurkeFamilyFuneralHomes.com

Bob was such a positive presence at the Newton Y. He had a great group of workout buddies( Ray,Bobby,Bill,Ed and Gene). Such a great example of what hard work can accomplish. He was a competitive triathlete. Always upbeat. Bob will be missed. RIP my friend. Hank
