ROBERT L. SIMON

SIMON, Robert L. It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Robert Lewis Simon of Stamford, CT, on December 15, 2022, at the age of 81. He is loved and remembered by his wife of 55 years, Harriet Simon; sons, Douglas Simon, Bradford Simon; and son-in-law, Michael Simon; his dear granddaughter, Isabella Simon; as well as numerous relatives and friends about whom he cared deeply. Born in Boston, MA, to the late Harry A. Simon and Sally D. Simon (Waskowitz), Bob grew up on Massachusetts' North Shore, graduated Bowdoin College and earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law. He and Harriet raised their sons in Wellesley, MA, where Bob was a scout leader, coached soccer, and was a mentor to many. Extensive travel, skiing in the wintertime, and summers on Cape Cod where the family spent time on the water boating to Nantucket were among the things he enjoyed most while his sons were growing up. All this while leading the famed Valle's Steak House restaurant chain as General Counsel and part owner. In 1999, Bob began his more than 20-year career with Fidelity where he served most recently as a Senior Vice President and Counsel for Fidelity National Title in New York City. His practice was almost exclusively dedicated to title insuring the largest and most complex transactions in the power, energy, and infrastructure industries. Most would credit him for being the first, true pioneer to focus exclusively, from a title insurance perspective, in this industry space. Bob had a passion for his work from which he never retired, closing deals up to his final weeks. He continued to enjoy travel, golf, and his Boston sports teams, especially the Patriots where he was season ticket holder from their founding throughout his life. But most important to Bob, and always first, was family. In his later years, after maintaining a summer home on Cape Cod for decades, he and Harriet transitioned from the ocean side to the countryside, making their second home to Stamford in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts where his son and son-in-law lived, so they might be closer to their new granddaughter Bella who he loved and delighted in sharing with family, friends, and colleagues. Bob will be deeply missed, but we are grateful for and hold dear the memories of a life well lived. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 18, at 12:30pm at Stanetsky Hymanson Memorial Chapel in Salem, MA.
