RONALD CROATTI Obituary

CROATTI, Ronald D. UniFirst Corporation Chairman, President, & CEO Ronald D. Croatti, 74, of Londonderry, NH, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. He was born in Boston, MA, on April 20, 1943, a son of the late Aldo Croatti and Alba (Bolognesi) Olney. He loved cars, trains and his beloved dog, Bella. Above all else, family was the most important part of his life. Mr. Croatti was the current CEO of UniFirst Corporation in Wilmington, MA, home to his second "family," where he loved and cared deeply for everyone who worked there, knowing the names and faces of countless employee Team Partners at every one of UniFirst's 240 locations throughout North America and abroad. Mr. Croatti was a visionary and business leader who helped mold the uniform service and supply industry into what it is today, taking UniFirst from $100 million in annual revenues when he took over leadership of the company, to $1.5 billion at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Carol Croatti, of Londonderry; three sons, Aldo of Coral Springs, FL, Michael of Pelham, NH, and Matthew of Winchester, MA; one daughter, Melissa (Croatti) O'Rourke of Hudson, NH; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Cynthia Croatti of Boston, MA, and Mona Levenstein of Ontario, Canada; one brother, Fred Croatti of Port Orange, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Visiting Hours: Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. Private graveside services will be held by the family at Pillsbury Cemetery in Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of NH at the following web address: http://bit.ly/2qhoeYs, or by mail to 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA, 02451. My sympathy to Ron's family. My husband David A. Elkins worked back in the 70's and early 80's mainly in the New Kensington plant in management and for a few years in the Charlotte, N.C. plant in management. David passed away in 2002. He always enjoyed Ron's visits at the New Kensington Plant near Pittsburgh. So sorry of Ron's passing.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Ron. I just watched his episode of Undercover Boss and thought what a nice man. Also, the company I work for contracts with UniFirst and it was interesting to see what goes on at a plant.

I was the sales and location manager for a small but growing branch in Colorado. I had the pleasure and honor of briefing Ron our quarterly report at the Ontario, CA. plant. Ron struck a balance of warmth and professionalism. He truly perpetuated the team and family feel that his father, Aldo began many years ago. I am truly sadden at his passing.

To the Croatti family my condolences . Unifirst and I go back about 30 years with me supplying pocketing material to your manufacturing facilties from the Puerto Rico days to Mexico and Nicaragua from my company John Solomon Inc and QST Industries ad Fabri_Quilt. The company under Ron's direction was always good and very fair to me . I am sure you will always miss him as will all of us that were touched by him . I will always remember him walking by the waiting room and giving me a big smile and a hello and I would say to myself " their goes the UNDERCOVER BOSS" .

I will always continue to supply your company as faithfully and loyally as if Ron were still there

In my 12 years of working at Unifirst, I never heard a single negative thing about Mr. Croatti. One of the two or three smartest people I ever knew, it was always fun to interact with him at budget and management meetings. Unifirst has lost a visionary leader that will be impossible to replace. RIP Ron Croatti.
