ROSALIND CLAIRE RABINOWITZ

1931 - 2022

RABINOWITZ, Rosalind Claire (Shapiro) Of Jamaica Plain, passed away on October 1, 2022, at the age of 91. She was born on May 26, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. Rosalind earned her Bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College and her Master's from Teacher's College, Columbia University. She worked as a reading and special education teacher for most of her career and enjoyed helping her students and seeing them flourish. She was a devoted reader of The New Yorker Magazine and The New York Times, and was adept at completing The Times's crossword puzzle. She was a foodie who was fond of brisket sandwiches and smoked salmon, as well as dining out at her favorite restaurants on Long Island. Together with her husband, George, who predeceased her, she loved collecting recipes and cooking. She loved the arts and attending concerts and museums. She and her husband amassed an impressive collection of contemporary paintings. Additionally, she loved interior decorating and had a flair for color and design. Rosalind and George had many friends and enjoyed attending social events. Rosalind had a fabulous sense of humor and charmed everyone she met. She spent most of her life living in Brooklyn, Riverdale in the Bronx, and Long Island. Even after moving to Boston in 2010, she was still a New Yorker at heart. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, her parents and her nephew. She leaves her son, Carl, and her daughter, Nancy, both of Jamaica Plain.
