RUTH DODDS Obituary

DODDS, Ruth Bennewith
~A life of kindness and generosity~
Ruth Dodds, loving mother and grandmother who enriched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity, died on hospice care in her son's home in Longmont, Colorado, on March 10, 2022, shortly before dawn. She was 85. Cause of death was Alzheimer's Disease.
Born in London and raised in Watford, Ruth completed her nursing training at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, England. Ruth immigrated to the United States shortly before the birth of her son Guy in 1961. Daughter Claire arrived 7 years later. Ruth became an American citizen in 1968. She was a winning tennis player and active in the National Organization for Women. After her children were launched, Ruth earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Smith College in 1992. She then resided for over 20 years in her little house near Scituate harbor. She served as the parish visitor at First Trinitarian Congregational Church. A talented landscape painter, she was also active with Friends of Scituate Seniors. She will always be remembered as a loyal friend.
Ruth was predeceased by her father, Walter Henry Bennewith; mother Doris Elms Bennewith; and brother John Bennewith. She is survived by daughter Claire Dodds (Cheryl Pearce); son Guy Dodds (Carol); and granddaughters Amber and Savanna. She is also survived by her former husband James Ian Dodds (Valerie).
