Sheldon rowed for both Nobles and Yale and continued relationships with friends from his school days, attending reunions and most recently, Zoom get-togethers with a group of friends from Nobles. Sheldon worked as a management consultant in information technology, beginning at Coopers and Lybrand, in Washington, D.C., in 1978. He worked domestically and internationally as a financial analyst and senior project manager in information technology for many companies, including the U.S. Postal Service, ICON Clinical Research, Chiltern International, ASG Inc., and Phase Forward (now a division of Oracle Corporation). Most recently, as a self-employed project manager, he researched the feasibility of the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) concept for collecting data directly from subjects in clinical trials for a consortium of service providers. Sheldon served as a board member and the treasurer for the EMR Network: Citizens and Professionals for the Responsible Use of Electromagnetic Radiation, a national not-for-profit environmental organization, for the past twenty-three years. He was also a member of Concord Safe Technology (Concord, Massachusetts). Sheldon had a love of sailing and the sea beginning in childhood. After retiring in 2014, Sheldon realized his life-long dream of building boats in his beautiful barn on Little Deer Isle, Maine. He took classes at the Wooden Boat School in Annapolis, Maryland, and Brooklin, Maine, and built three wooden boats, a dory, a dingy, and an Ebihen traditional sailboat designed by Francois Vivier, Naval Architect of Pronichet, France. Sheldon named his dory the Calliope and his sailboat Thetis. He especially loved taking his family sailing on Eggemoggin Reach, off Little Deer Isle, and beyond. A Memorial Service to celebrate Sheldon's life will be held in Concord, Massachusetts, in the spring of 2022. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sheldon's memory may be made to
