SIDEL WEINSTEIN

1927 - 2022

WEINSTEIN, Sidel Age 94, adored, beloved mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, aunt, and sister passed away at home in Somers, NY, surrounded by her family on July 9, 2022. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and she was the loving daughter of Jack and Rose Bagner and sister to Gertrude. She was the beloved wife of Lionel for 64 years of loving partnership in life, family, and work. Sidel is survived by her adoring children, Dr. Joseph and Christine (Corcoran) Weinstein of Massachusetts and David Weinstein of New York City. Sidel is also survived by her favored grandson, Jeffrey Weinstein whom she loved deeply. Sidel attended Samuel J. Tilden High School and then went on to Brooklyn College where she studied Economics. She later attended Western Connecticut State University and began a career as a teacher. She also spent decades working alongside her husband in his pharmacy business. She was a longstanding member and past President of the Sisterhood at Temple Bet Torah in Mount Kisco. In 1995, she became a devoted member of Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford Corners, NY. Sidel had a brilliant and analytical mind and was devoted, foremost, to her family and faith. She readily volunteered in service of her community. Sidel was a lifelong member of Hadassah and past president of the Tamar Chapter. She was a phenomenal and artistic seamstress and was a craftsperson in all types of stitching and needlepoint. She enjoyed worldwide travel with Lionel and her family, and spent winters in Palm Desert, CA, with their friends. Late in life, she treasured the company of her family and friends and reading of all kinds. The family extends its unending gratitude to the caregivers who provided for Sidel. With grace and joy, Meldy, Emily, Alessandra, Siobhan, and Maria enhanced her years and her life with their devotion, care, and laughter. The Funeral Service will take place at Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford Corners, NY at 12:30 PM on Monday, July 11, 2022. Masks are required at the Funeral Service. Charitable donations may be made in Sidel's memory to Hadassah or Temple Shaaray Tefilah, the Lionel and Sidel Weinstein Fund in Bedford Corners, NY.
