I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tom. I'm just heartbroken! Tom was a good man and kind soul. We boxed together for the last few years and Tom always had the best one-liners. He was quiet, but witty as hell. I will certainly miss him!!!! :(

To the Mulkern Family, Bob especially.
I never met Tom, but have known Bob for almost 20 years through our work relationship. Tom looks exactly like Bob and I bet his personality was the same as well...a loving guy who makes great friends and is consistent in the way he lives his life. My deepest sympathies to the entire Mulkern family.

I will never forget a conversation that Tom and I had at Bascom-Turner on New Year's Eve Day some years ago. At that time, my son was too young to go out and celebrate with friends, and too old not to have something a little special to do. I happened to ask Tom what he was doing that night. He looked so surprised by the question, as if I was asking something ridiculous. Then he responded, Stooges and beer of course! Well, the tradition of a New Year's Eve Three Stooges television marathon was unknown to me, but I did later share this information with my son. My husband and I still cherish the memory of our son's introduction to the Stooges, and the giggles and laughter we heard throughout the night! Thank you for the gift of those wonderful memories, Tom! You will be missed.

Last summer, Tommy made his annual visit to stay with us on the Cape. One day, the weather was particularly beautiful, not a cloud in the sky. Given the choice of antique hunting with my brother Stephen or the beach, guess what option he picked? Tommy helped me load my car with all the necessities, including the heavy chairs. Off we went to Old Silver with my daughter, Brigitte, Stephen's wife, Kim, and their boys, Hunter and Tyler. Tommy loved the swimming and spent a great deal of time playing catch in the water with me and the boys. After watching Tyler unsuccessfully try again and again to make a sand castle out of dry sand, he teased him in his sarcastic voice (What are you stupid?) and then explained what to do. Later, Tommy volunteered for the packey run (the Bud Light was running low) and bought me the mix needed for my drink. My husband Dave got the grill going and we had a great dinner together. The boys as I liked to think of them, (Tommy, Timmy, and Stephen) taught me how to play cribbage. They went easy on me, sharing their expertise in a game they played for hours on end. What fun I had! A perfect Cape day spent with people I love.
This is how I will always remember you Tommy.

To say I'm shocked and devastated would be an understatement. I've worked with Tom every night for the past 4 years at The Wheelock Elementary school in Medfield. Tom was the best coworker you could ask for. You could always depend on him. It was great to work with someone who loved music as much as me, we loved to talk music, sports and politics all the time. Although it was a rocky beginning, we became really good friends over the years. Tom was honest and genuine and very much an old school type of guy, which was perfect in my book. He loved his family, telling me great stories of his brother Bob and cousin Steve, who I got to meet this summer and of course his buddy Schuby who Tom would go cruising with on Saturdays in his vintage car.
Tom, I miss you my friend, work will never be the same without you. I keep waiting for you to come down the stairs at the end of the night. Thank you for all the laughs, the knowledge and for being a great friend. I will see you on the other side.

I haven't seen Tom in decades, and was never a close' friend, but still feel a loss at hearing about his passing, because Tom was just that kind of guy. He was rock solid, a good friend, and very selfless. I never once heard him brag. You could always rely on Tom. My prayers for you guys....

I work with Tom at Bascom Turner in Norwood, which is Tom's part time job. Tom would routinely stop by my office for some very high level discussions involving the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and of course the Red Sox. I always looked forward to Tom's visits and his point of view on the topic of the day. Recently during one of Tom's visits I casually mentioned the trees and bushes outside were overgrown and it was difficult to see out the window. Later that day, I heard a loud buzzing and outside my window was Tom with a chainsaw pruning the trees and bushes. I thanked him and assured him that I didn't mention it because I expected him to do it, but that was Tom being Tom. Now when I look out my window, I can't help but think of Tom and how much he will be missed by everyone here at Bascom Turner.

My cousin Tommy was always a lot of fun to be around. He could make anyone laugh or sigh with his jaded view of the world and wicked sense of humor. He could also show real depth when discussing a host of topics ranging from Boston sports teams to current events to his favorite rock bands. I extend my deepest sympathies to Aunt Nancy, Bob, Ronnalee and Judy. Know that Tommy will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Love, Michael

I did not know my cousin Tommy as an adult, but knew him as a child when he spent a summer with us. He was a great kid, full of life. I am truly sorry for your loss. He is gone much too soon.

My cousin Tommy was the salt of the earth. Generous to a fault and always quick to generate laughter, his effervescence was contagious. If you truly knew him, you could really appreciate his wry wit and glib political sarcasm. Like myself, he was cynical, but he never let it stand in the way of being entertaining. He was great with my children, and my little guy cried when I told him of Tommy's passing. He was able to bring us to a Pats game through his network of generous friends, which by itself is a great testimony. I miss you so much already my brother. Know that you were loved by many!
Love, Stephen
