Devoted Father of Edward J Collins III & his fiancé Meghan Beswick of Quincy, Loving Grandfather of Cameron, Izabella & Ryleigh, Son of Rita ( Welch ) Collins-Nave of South Boston & Edward J Collins of Melrose. Brother of Donna Collins Williams and her husband Rick of Redwood City, CA., Christine and her husband Edward Lyons of Cambridge, Daniel, Patrick & Paul of South Boston and Jeffrey of Melrose. Uncle of Kathryn & Lauren Williams, Brigid & Maeve Collins. Also survived by many aunts, uncles & cousins. Member of The Loma Club of San Diego, where he had two daily standing tee times & former twenty four year member of Laborers Union Local 223. Huge Boston Sports Fan.

Visitation in the O'Brien Funeral Home 146 Dorchester Street South Boston on Thursday January 6th from 3-8pm. Funeral Mass in Gate of Heaven Church 615 East Fourth Street South Boston on Friday January 7th at 10am. Relatives and friends invited to attend. Interment Wyoming Cemetery Melrose.

Eddie was the bright light in the room,people would gravitate towards him because of his "Hijinks & Chicanery"(two of his favorite words) you could always count on him for a laugh no matter what the situation was. Eddie was a great guy all around,I could go on and on with stories about Eddie,but it would take days.
Anyone who knew Eddie has a funny story or two,he will be missed by so many of us,we love you Eddie Rest in eternal Peace

Eddie always told me how I kind I was towards him. He always thanked me. He always expressed himself as an absolute gentleman towards me.. Even when he cursed at his golf ball. It´s an absolute honor to have crossed paths with him and his wise and beautiful soul. I would like to thank everyone who has played a roll and served purpose in his life...all of it matters. Thank you all for being here.
