George Guinane Obituary
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, George was the fourth son of Patrick "Frank" Guinane and Nora (Walsh) Guinane who immigrated to America in 1929 where the surname "Guinnane" was changed to "Guinane." Patrick and Nora had six children: Francis, William, John, Maureen, George, and Daniel.
Upon his graduation from Arlington High School, George wed Marilyn (Farese) Guinane and began a career as a real estate broker and investor. He later graduated from Clarke University in Worcester.
George had many artistic pursuits throughout his life. A man of many talents, he was first and foremost a musician, but also a film director and classically trained painter. In 1972, he received an award for his short film, "Journey Through Hazy Eyes," by the Motion Picture Division of the Photographic Society of America. He was also the owner and administrator of the Vesper George School of Art in Boston Massachusetts until its closing in 1983.
Later in life, George focused primarily on his music. He was a talented vocalist, guitarist, and song writer. He produced several music albums, both independently and with his band, "Wildfire." His songs were widely acclaimed, both domestically and abroad. Over the years he amassed a cult following of avid listeners from around the world.
Best described as a "Lover of Life," few men looked towards the future with the same optimism and passion as George Guinane. His works and deeds will live on through the efforts of his children and future generations. He is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.
