Megan Fleming Obituary

FLEMING Megan E. of South Boston, at age 53. Megan passed away surrounded by her loving husband and family on Saturday after a nearly eight year fight with breast cancer. She was happily at home with her Nancy Drew books, crafting items and her writings. She may best be remembered by her South Boston neighbors for handing out her Halloween candy wrapped in interesting hand-made paper creations like spiders, coffins, cauldrons etc.. Megan was a 35 year Employee of the Boston Public Library working In the Special Collections Dept. She was particularly proud of her 2005 Nancy Drew 75th Birthday Celebration. When asked what she would like at her wake, Megan, always a student of the odd & bizarre, said, "Tear Bottles". Otherwise, in lieu of flowers, she would like donations to the Alliance for Animals, 232 Silver St., So. Boston, MA, 02127. Megan would also like to say "Buy Raw Milk!" She and her husband would like to give a special thanks to her three sisters who have always been especially helpful. She is survived by her husband Neil Morrison. She is the daughter of Eleanor M. (Tuinila) and the late James R. Fleming. Her sisters Susan Fleming, Paula Fleming, Janet Fleming, and brother David Fleming, all of South Boston, and James Fleming and his wife Kristine of Reading, and Fluffy the Cat. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, SOUTH BOSTON, Tuesday 4:00-8:00 P.M,, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Peter's Lithuanian Church on Wednesday, May 19, at 10:00 A.M. Interment, Forest Hills Cemetery. For Guestbook & directions www.casperfuneralservices.com

Neil and family,

Megan was such a delight and I always enjoyed my brief chats with her about Nancy Drew. Her library display for the 75th anniversary and her favors were especially clever. Our Nancy Drew Sleuths group will miss her very much and will find a special way to honor her memory. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time!

Ah man! Sorry to hear ‘bout Megan. We really didn’t speak at all but, I loved the work she did for the Worker. She had a great way with words. I guess now something’s don’t matter in some ways. But, at the same time, everything matters more now than ever. There are tears that need to be shed. Words that need to be spoken. And hearts that need to break a little before they can heal. My heart goes out to Neil and the Fleming family. May you look back with joy, never with sorrow! Here’s to dreams, of a better tomorrow.

Sorry, very sorry. I worked with megan for a while. She was a character. Super republican, loved ronald ragen. Said she had wrote a mystery book about the library. Said a person was taking it to different publishers. I told her to make it into a musical then movie companies would make a film. I was once painting eggs and she showed me pictures of her jewelled eggs. When my mother was sick she could cheer me up. A unique person, we need more like her around. henry gingras
