Margaret Tippett Obituary

Margaret Catherine Seven Bell Tippett, 95, of Bozeman, died an accidental death Monday, Sept. 6, 2010.

Born May 14, 1915, near Grenora, N.D., Nick and Anna Seven gave birth to their second child, Margaret, with the aid of a midwife. Margaret was named in honor of her grandmother. She grew up on the family farm in a small home without electricity or running water. She and her siblings attended a one-room school a mile from home. On bitter cold days, they were allowed the use of a horse-drawn sleigh. With an eight-grade education, she excelled in reading, writing and arithmetic and life.

Margaret and Wallace Bell Sr. were married Nov. 12, 1938, in Wolf Point. After construction of Fort Peck, Wallace worked primarily in the Pennsylvania shipyards. Following the war, with Gail and Wallace Jr., they settled on a Fairfield Bench farm near Power. Anita was born in Great Falls.

Margaret later worked with Polly's Dress Shop and the Paris (Bon).

She and Richard Tippett were married May 5, 1973. They resided briefly in Butte before settling in Bozeman in 1974, where they managed the Kibbey Plaza Apartments, and Richard was employed at the Federal Building.

Margaret was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Foresters, the VFW Women's Auxiliary, and Formal Dance Club. She enjoyed pinochle, crossword puzzles, plants, reading and her many dear friends.

Margaret is survived by her children, Gail Bell of Bozeman, Wallace "Butch" (Karen) Bell of Great Falls, Anita (Joe) Kowalchuk of Anchorage; sister, Tress Beck of Hardin; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Bozeman Catholic Community Center, 210 S. Grand Ave., with interment to follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Memorials in Margaret's name may be made to Holy Rosary; Veterans of Foreign Wars, 139 Moore Lane, Suite B, Billings, MT 59101; or to a charity of one's choice.

Wow what fond memories my wife and I have of Mr and Mrs. Tippett. Back in the early 1980’s my now wife Dorian Rowe Kleinstuber and I moved out to Bozeman from our home in DE. The problem was we had no where to live. We happened upon a wonderful ground level apartment at a building that Mr and Mrs. Tippett managed and although we were not married yet they allowed us to sign a lease.
Dorian did the exchange program at Montana State and I took a semester off from college. I worked (a little) and fished and skied.
We not only think about them often we both remember how kind they were to us. It may have helped a bit when Dorian let on that her family used to live in Monarch MT.
They were a wonderful couple and took a chance on us. We did not let them down. May she Rest In Peace
