Bradenton, Florida - It is with great sadness that we share the passing of David C. Thompson of Bradenton, Florida, on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
David was born in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin, in 1945, the son of Glenn and Barbara Thompson. He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1963, he earned a business degree Northwestern University in 1967, and earned a master's degree from Webster University in 1999.
David built a distinguished career in the soybean processing industry where he held numerous leadership roles. Most notably, he served as President and CEO of Garnac Grain Company. He was also a valued board member of the Chicago Board of Trade.
After retiring to Bradenton, Florida, in 2009, David remained active and engaged. He pursued real estate investments and continued to build meaningful relationships in the community.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 16 years, Betty McNaught Thompson; and by his two sons (predeceased by their mother Brigitte M.C. Thompson): Kevin Thompson, grandson Blake Thompson of Bradenton, FL and Tim Thompson, wife Andi, grandson Nik Jarvi, and granddaughter Connor (Coco) Thompson of Brentwood, Tennessee. He is further survived by his brother, Jim Thompson, and wife Georgia of Minnetonka, Minnesota.
David will be laid to rest in the family plot in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. A celebration of life will be held at River Dance Condominiums, 808 3rd Avenue West, Bradenton, FL on September 6, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
