Joseph Accetura Obituary

Joseph Accetura
November 19, 1931 - April 12, 2021
Bradenton, Florida -
Joseph "Joe" Accetura of Bradenton, FL, passed away on April 12, 2021, from complications following heart surgery. A devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather, he was 89 years old.
Joe was born in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late John Francis and Justine Amelia (Valerio) Accetura. He attended Webster Grammar School, Crosby High School, and then the University of New Haven, before proudly serving in the US Navy. He sailed all over the globe between 1948 and 1954.
Joe dedicated most of his working career to Northeast Utilities - beginning as a lineman and retiring as a test department manager after 37 years of service. After retiring he spent a few years in the green mountains of Vermont before moving down to sunny Florida. In Bradenton, FL, he was able to pursue his golfing passion year-round, enjoy time with friends and family, and hone his cribbage skills. Joe was loved for his sense of humor, infectious smile, and his ability to light up any room he entered.
He is survived by his beautiful wife, Sonja (Biggs) Accetura of Bradenton, FL; his favorite sister, Barbara Accetura of Waterbury, CT; his son, Richard (and wife, Susan) of North Granby, CT; his daughter, Valerie of Berlin, CT, and his grandsons; Joe, James and Jack of North Granby, CT. He was pre-deceased by his brother, Francis "Frank" Accetura and his grandson, Leo Ray Banks.
