May 3, 1942 - November 16, 2024

Palmetto, Florida - Michael P. Coleman, of Palmetto, Florida, passed away, November 16, 2024. He was born in Tampa, Florida on May 3, 1942. Mike is survived by his wife, Sylvia: his sister, Bunny Garst; sons, Brian and Chris; 2 grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews. Early in life, he felt the calling to the priesthood and attended St. Joseph College, but he ultimately joined the Air Force in 1964 and was stationed in Wethersfield Airfield as a photography specialist and then as a Warehouse Inventory Specialist with the 52nd Combat Support Group. While stationed in England, he met the love of his life Sylvia Wetherill who he married in December 1967. Retiring from General Foods in 1986, he moved from Fishkill, NY to FL. They purchased Aquatel Resort where they raised their two boys. Military funeral honors will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72 (Clark Road), Sarasota, January 17, 2025, 2:00 p.m.
