Pendleton, South Carolina - Michael Joseph Santaniello, 77, passed away April 2, 2022 in Pendleton, SC.
A Bradenton native, Mike was born to parents, Joseph Michael Santaniello and Margaret Louise Cowin at the Bradenton General Hospital on September 23, 1944. He attended local schools and was a 1963 graduate of Manatee High School. He received a bachelor's degree from Florida State University.
Although he'd never brag, his accomplishments were vast. Mike was an educator at Bayshore High School for 25 years, teaching chemistry and biology. He never had kids of his own, but he inspired hundreds of students through the years with a love for science. He held a black belt in Tae Kwan Do, and used this talent to found the Tae Kwon Do Club at BHS. He loved anything that grew and was a landscape designer and contractor across the gulf coast. A 200 year old Oak Tree still stands in Tallahassee's Koger Office Park due to Mike's rescue efforts. This love of nature made him particularly fond of the beaches of Anna Maria Island and the countryside he called "Old Florida".
Perhaps, though, Mike's greatest accomplishment in life was that he never stopped learning — always determined to know the unknown.
Mike was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Ronald A. Santaniello. Mike will be greatly missed by his nephews; Corey, Joseph, and Anthony; his dear friend and sister-in-law, Cynthia; and his love, Bobbi. He is also survived by his step-mother, Virginia Allums of Miami Gardens; brothers; Andrew, Douglas and Raymond; sisters; Diane and Linda; and other nieces and nephews.
