Robert N. Cote, 87 of Bradenton, Florida passed away at 3pm, June 29th, 2017 at Tidewell Hospice Sarasota.
Born in Rhode Island, Robert was the son of Albert and Aldea Cote of Johnston, R.I. Bob was a lifelong Catholic and most recently he was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church.
Robert is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Bastinelli originally of Johnston, R.I. and their 3-sons, Mark Cote, husband of Harriet and their two children, daughter, MacKenzie and son, Taylor and great granddaughter, Annabelle Cote all of Lancaster, Pa; David Cote of Pomona, Calif; and Kenneth Cote, husband of Francesca and their three sons, Jonathon, Ross, and Jared all of North Providence; and Bob's sister, Lorraine Wells of North Smithfield, R.I.
At the age of 17, Robert forged his father's signature so he could join the US Marines. Robert would serve honorably for 20-years, most notably during the Korean War as a member of the famous Chosin Few. He also served in other overseas deployments at the US Embassy in Paris France, China, Lebanon, Japan and VietNam.
After retiring from the Marines, Bob began a second career managing purchasing with the Outlet department store chain and then with retailer Casual Corner. He was an avid reader and he had several hobbies including production of military miniatures. Bob and wife Shirley also enjoyed traveling around the world.
Mass will be Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at 10 am at Our Lady of Angel Bradenton FL. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name will be accepted at Tidewell in Sarasota. FL.
