Stuart Kulpinski Obituary

Stuart "Stu" Kulpinski

Stuart (Stu) H. Kulpinski, passed away peacefully after a long courageous battle against cancer for the last 4 years on Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Stu was under the loving care of the Aspirus Hospice House with his family close by his side. He was born December 14, 1960 in Wausau, son of the late Chester and Virginia Kulpinski. On February 2, 1991 he married Lori (Anstutz) Kulpinski in Aspen, CO on the top of Ajax Ski Mountain.

Stu was a devoted husband, family man and a good friend to many who knew him. He touched many people in so many ways, because once you met Stu you never forgot him. Stu started out working for his uncle Harvey Krueger at Wausau Brick & Gypsum. After the loss of his father, as a senior at Wausau East High School, Stu attended U.W. Stout graduating with a bachelor degree in Sales & Marketing with an education minor. Stu came back to Wausau to work again for his uncle at Wausau Brick & Gypsum. Stu was always involved in sports and the health & fitness industry. He helped coach the Wausau East/West Girls Gymnastics team taking the team all the way to State one year with the assistance of his wife, Lori and Lori's first cousin Susie (Pavek) Shinners. Stu went on to open Wausau Health & Fitness with his good friends Scott Tesch and Jim Jaworski. Stu loved the ski industry as well and had worked for his late uncle, Carmelo Oliva, at Rib Mountain Ski Hill along with Stu's late father Chester. Stu went back to work at the ski hill, now known as Granite Peak Ski Resort for 12 years as the head manager for snow making & grooming. In the last recent months, he was employed in Merrill by Island City Engineers.

Stu was always very active and had many interests in his life. In his early years Stu was into body building and lifting weights. Stu loved to ski and went on many ski trips with his wife, Lori. Stu loved watching sports and participating in sports with his two sons. Stu helped coach both of his son's football teams with great pleasure and joy. Stu had a great love for the Green Bay Packers and watching NASCAR. He also enjoyed boating in the summer months with his family. Stu loved vacationing every year with his family in Cancun, Mexico over the past 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lori, along with two sons Micah and Jag, Wausau; and many other relatives and great friends.

Stu was preceded in death by both his parents Chester and Virginia Kulpinski and many other family members

Lori, Micah and Jag, thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Stu is an amazing man, husband and father and I know you will miss him dearly. Remember all the laughter, all the joy. I lost track of him after college, but thought of him whenever I traveled through Wausau. He and I had a blast sledding on Rib Mt. Did he ever tell you of the family party he invited me to and he and I took the Flexible Flyer off of the Headwall? It was an amazing moment of freedom. Lucky we didn't crash, but that was Stu for you, he had it under control.
The sled ended up all the way at the bottom of the parking fields. :>)He was the best sledding buddy ever! and a really good friend. Blessings to all of you. Margaret Jordan Schwartzbauer

Lori - We are sorry to hear of the loss of Stu. I remember meeting him at our home office the first time -- that was a long time ago. He would come into the health club for coffee in the morning - smiling and happy. We are thinking of you during these days and will always remember his friendliness.
