Albert Stewart Obituary

Albert John Stewart JR.

February 9, 1943 - March 20, 2026

Bradenton, Florida - Albert John "AJ, Al, Bert" Stewart Jr., 83, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on March 20, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born in Sarasota, Florida on February 9, 1943, to Albert John Stewart Sr. of Sarasota, Florida and Trissie Godwin Stewart of Oneco, Florida.

A proud graduate of Sarasota High School's Class of 1961, Albert went on to serve honorably in the United States Marine Corps until 1967. During his service, he was stationed just off the coast of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After returning home, he became a highly respected and successful Florida Certified General Contractor and Plumbing Contractor, serving Manatee County for more than forty years.

Albert is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Mims Stewart of Bradenton, Florida; two sons, John Stewart (Trish) and Wayne Stewart (Kaitie); and daughter Tammy Mercer of Naples, Florida. He was preceded in death by his daughter Tracy Stewart. He leaves behind grandsons Benjamen Stewart, Riley Stewart, Greyson Stewart, Jeffery Mercer, and Christopher Mercer, as well as great-granddaughters Aubrey and Avery Mercer. He is also survived by his sisters Marianne and Craig Kluver of Myakka, Florida, Rosemary Stewart of Webster, Florida, and Annabel Sines of Hobe Sound, Florida, and was preceded in death by his sister Madeline Stelogeannis of Ocala, Florida.

An avid outdoorsman, Albert found his greatest joy on the water. Fishing was his lifelong passion, and he spent much of his life on Lake Istokpoga, where Mossy Cove Fish Camp served as his second home. He was a proud man of faith who devoted his life to protecting and providing for his family.
