Morgan Grant Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Your Traditions Cremation and Funeral Chapel on Feb. 23, 2026.
Morgan Alexander "Alec" Grant, 85, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, in Sarasota, Florida. Born on April 24, 1940, in the Bronx, New York, and a resident of Scarsdale, NY, Alec led a life marked by service, dedication, and a profound love for family and community.

He spent his formative years in Florida and graduated from Sarasota High School in 1958, where he was a proud varsity member of the Sarasota Sailors Swimming Team. Alec continued his education at Tulane University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1962. During his time there, he also served as sports editor for the university newspaper.

After graduation, Alec joined the U.S. Army, serving for four years and achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. Stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany, he was a Transportation Officer and a distinguished member of the Expert Army Rifle Team. It was during this period that he met and married Isolde Hedwig Wunsch in 1965. The couple returned to Sarasota in 1966 to begin their lives together.

Upon returning to Sarasota, Alec joined his parents, James Alexander Grant and Eula Britt Grant, at the Credit Bureau of Sarasota. He later founded his own company, Southern Personnel Services, where his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to helping others defined his professional career.

Alec's passion for swimming remained throughout his life, and he could often be found swimming at Siesta Key Beach. He also enjoyed playing tennis at Woodbridge Estates, staying fit at the YMCA, and was an active member of the Sarasota Bowling League.

Alec was a devoted father to Christine Isolde Grant, James Alexander Grant II, and Kathryn Eula Campaigne. He is lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren-Sabre Alexander Campaigne, Caspian Lucas Campaigne, Victoria Morgan Grant, and Alexander Conway Grant-and by his two cherished cats, Walter and Olive. His family and pets brought him unwavering love, affection, and companionship.

He will be fondly remembered for his vibrant personality, marked by keen intelligence, a wonderful sense of humor, boundless generosity, and a truly big heart.
